After all, why shouldn’t pet lovers have an option that plays nice with nature? And if there’s one thing we’ve learned during this journey, it’s that we’re always learning. Sustainability doesn’t happen overnight – it’s a constant process of growing, evolving and getting better.

Our sustainability story so far…

We’ve always known that our packaging is a huge part of how we’ll meet our targets to be über planet-friendly. When we started out, we searched high and low for an option that was sustainable and stood out from the rest of the pet-food pack.

Eventually, we settled on an option made from paper and potatoes. Yep, potatoes! I mean, we knew spuds were versatile but we’d never have thought of making plastic from them. Turns out, some very clever people have figured out how to make ‘bioplastic’ from the humble potato.

So, our bags are made from a combo of renewable materials - and are 100% industrially compostable. We’ve always encouraged people to compost where they can, to ensure the bags don’t just end up in landfill. All sounds great, right?

So, what changed?

Well, like we said, sustainability is a journey. With a little insight from the experts, we’ve realised that the facilities to industrially compost our bags are sadly rarely available to consumers. In fact, less than 3% of households in France, Germany and the UK have access to an at-home or industrial composter. That means that despite our best intentions, our bags often end up heading to landfill with the rest of the general waste.

But all is not lost! In fact, we have some great news – we can now confirm that these bags can actually be put in your paper recycling bin. Plus - in case you missed it - over the past few months, we’ve been working with packaging experts to launch our brand new, fully paper-based packaging. That means that ALL of our bags can now be recycled with paper recycling!

It's now super easy to dispose of our bags responsibly.

Sometimes, the simplest way is the best. And as it turns out, the best option is to put our bags in your paper recycling bin. At the recycling centres, the paper fibres can then be recycled where facilities allow. This goes for every single one of our bags – no matter whether you choose our dog kibble or cat kibble, our treats or our doggy dental! If it says Edgard & Cooper on it, it can go in your paper recycling.* Which means it’s super-duper easy for you, and great for the planet. It’s a win-win!

*Of course our wet food packaging is recycled along with other tins and recyclable metal, but you already knew that right?

If hearing about our sustainably packaged range has got your ears perked up, you can shop here. Don’t forget to pop the bag in the recycling when your furry friend has gobbled up all the goodies!
